
  Gem Design Technologies contributes to the very moment when a novel EDA tool being born.
President Hiroshi Murata
  Murata graduated EE in Kanazawa-university in 1980, worked for a software company until 1984, joined Komatsu Murata Mfg., Co., Ltd in 1984 where he deleveped active-RC filter synthesis and simulation, DC-DC converter simulation, laytout design standarization, router development for Hibrid-IC, etc, until 1997. In pararell from 1993, he studied in Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), got his master degree and Ph.D degree, in 1994 and 1997, respectively. The master thesis is "Continuous deformation based layout editor", and the doctor thesis is "Rectangle-Packing and its application to VLSI module placement". He was a visiting researcher at UC Berkeley in 1997-1998. He conducted the development of VLSI module placement tool as the president of MicroArc Co., Ltd in 1998-2002. He was a visiting associate professor in JAIST in 1998-2000. His paper was selected in IEEE BEST OF ICCAD in 2002. He guided post-doc reserchers as a commissioned professor at the University of Kitakyushu in 2003-2008. In 2002, he started Murata Hiroshi Design Technology, as a personal business, to start GemPackage development. In 2008, April 1st, he started Gem Design Technologies, Inc.
